Due to the development of the world power industry, in order to meet the power demand, the grid construction has been continuously increased and rebuilt, resulting in an unprecedented increase in the demand for high-voltage power transmission and transformation equipment, increasing the use of SF6 gas and increasing the SF6 gas emissions amount to the atmosphere. Twenty years ago, the concentration of SF6 in the atmosphere was barely felt. It was about 3.2ppt (1ppt=10-12V/V) 10 years ago.
In 2008, the concentration of SF6 gas reached 8.3ppt through inspection in Beijing. 10 years ago, global SF6 production was about 200000 tons (including storage), but now estimated to be more than 500000 tons (including storage). It can be seen that the concentration of SF6 gas in the atmosphere tends to rise linearly.
