In 2007, China has become the largest emitter of greenhouse gases, with a total discharge of more than 6 billion tons of CO2. The State Council executive meeting on November 25, 2009 decided that by 2020, China’s GDP per unit of carbon dioxide emissions will be lower than that of 2005. Decrease by 40% - 45%.
In this year's "White Paper on Green Development of State Grid Corporation" issued by State Grid Corporation of China, it proposes a plan to increase emissions reduction of 1.65 billion tons of carbon dioxide by 2020 compared with 2005, to achieve the goal of reducing the carbon intensity of unit GDP in 2020. The contribution is over 20%. One of the main factors affecting the impact of the power supply industry on the Earth's climate change comes from the use and emissions of SF6 gas. SF6 gas is widely used in power supply equipment, especially switchgear, due to its good insulation and arc extinguishing performance. About 80% of SF6 gas in the world is used in the power supply industry. Due to the development of the world power industry, in order to meet the power demand, the grid construction has been continuously increased and rebuilt, resulting in an unprecedented increase in the demand for high-voltage power transmission and transformation equipment, increasing the use of SF6 gas and increasing the SF6 gas emissions amount to the atmosphere. Twenty years ago, the concentration of SF6 in the atmosphere was barely felt. It was about 3.2ppt (1ppt=10-12V/V) 10 years ago.
In 2008, the concentration of SF6 gas reached 8.3ppt through inspection in Beijing. 10 years ago, global SF6 production was about 200000 tons (including storage), but now estimated to be more than 500000 tons (including storage). It can be seen that the concentration of SF6 gas in the atmosphere tends to rise linearly.
